Epiphany Cathedral

The Epiphany Cathedral was built in 1738 on the banks of the Yenisei. It had a longitudinal three-part composition: a temple with a semicircular altar apse, a refectory with two flanking side-chapels and a bell tower, elongated along one axis. The temple belonged to the type of “octagon on a quadruple”.

At present, the volumes of the main temple and the altar, as well as the apse of the south side-altar and the crowning parts of both side-altars, have been completely lost; the outer decoration of the surviving volumes has been fragmentarily preserved.

The virtual three-dimensional reconstruction of the heritage site was carried out, as in the first case, using design documentation, archival and modern photographs, as well as preserved descriptions.
